PNP chief open to another government post

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa is open to serving the public in another post when he retires from the service in September.

Gamboa, who was appointed by President Duterte last month as PNP chief, said he is more than willing to work for the Chief Executive in another capacity.

“I would offer my services to the President. Should you need me in some other government agencies I would be more than willing to help,” Gamboa said in an interview on CNN Philippines.

Gamboa will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on Sept. 2.

He was previously assigned in Duterte’s hometown in Davao.

The President has the habit of appointing retired police and military officials to government posts.

Among them are Secretary Catalino Cuy of the Dangerous Drugs Board, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Aaron Aquino and Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, who headed the Bureau of Corrections when he retired as PNP chief.
