Marikina police precincts to get patrol cars
MANILA, Philippines — Nine police precincts in Marikina City will receive brand new patrol cars from the local government in a bid to increase police visibility.
“Our support for the police is not only physical or in material terms, but more importantly we treat them as brothers and sisters,” Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said in a statement over the weekend.
Teodoro made the announcement during the visit of National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas to the city hall.
The mayor lauded the local police for its high crime solution rate.
Records showed that the crime solution rate for index crimes was 73 percent and 94 percent for non-index crimes.
Teodoro said the eight-story Marikina police station along Fortune Avenue in Barangay Fortune is under construction.
The P130-million structure will have offices, interrogation rooms, a tactical operations room, evidence room, a wellness spa, an indoor gun range and a chapel.
Teodoro has drew flak from the Philippine National Police for allegedly withholding gas allowances for the city police.
