Motorcycle rider caught with P1.2 million shabu

MANILA, Philippines — Over P1.2 million worth of drugs was confiscated by police from a motorcycle rider at a checkpoint in Taguig City on Tuesday night.

Darwin Gedtal, 40, of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig, allegedly yielded an estimated 179 grams of shabu, drug paraphernalia and P3,000 in cash.

Members of the Taguig police mobile patrol unit were manning a checkpoint along C-6 Road in Barangay Hagonoy when they chanced upon the suspect.

In Quezon City, 11 persons were arrested and at least P300,000 worth of  drugs was seized by police in the past two days.

Edito Ediza, 60, allegedly a top drug suspect of the Galas police station, was captured along with his cohort Joven Tolentino, 30, during a sting in Barangay Tatalon.

At least eight grams of shabu worth P54,000 were recovered from the duo.

In Barangay Pasong Putik, three suspects were collared in another drug bust.

They were Ralph Bartolome, 32; Arlene Esteron, 37, and Jun Patria, 39, who allegedly yielded around 10.3 grams of shabu.

Five suspected drug pushers were arrested for alleged possession of of shabu with an estimated street value of P102,000 in Barangay Culiat.

Julius Cabrera, 44; Crisia Maganoy, 18; Rica Tamo, 30; Wenerando Masion, 35, and Roderick Lapitan, 23, reportedly sold drugs to a policeman prior to their arrest.

Another sting led to the apprehension of 19-year-old Russel Arceo in Barangay Novaliches Proper.

Police said they recovered P90,000 worth of marijuana from Arceo.

In Makati, police busted an alleged drug den with the arrest of five suspects.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency took custody of the suspects for allegedly engaging in a pot session at a house along Acacia street in Barangay Cembo.

Three other drug suspects were nabbed by anti-narcotics officers in Muntinlupa, Parañaque and Las Piñas.
