NCRPO chief gets second star

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Metro Manila police force was promoted yesterday to two-star general.

Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), got his second star during an oath-taking ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Another police official promoted to two-star rank was Joel Napoleon Coronel, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the investigative arm of the Philippine National Police.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, who attended the event, said Sinas and Coronel were among the nine senior police officials who were promoted to the next rank.

“The promotion of senior officials was prompted by the retirement this year of some police generals occupying key positions in national and regional units,” Gamboa said.

The seven police officials promoted to one-star generals are Alessandro Abella of the Women and Children Protection Center, Romeo Caramat Jr. of the Drug Enforcement Group, Flynn Dongbo of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, Rommil Mitra of the Firearms and Explosives Office, Daniel Mayoni of the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management, Prexy Tanggawohn of the Philippine National Police Academy and Baltazar Israel of the Internal Afairs Service.

Gamboa reminded the officials to intensify operations against illegal drugs, corruption and crimes.

“Their performance will bear weight in the succeeding rounds of performance evaluation to determine their competence to continue leading their respective units,” he said.
