19 women saved from 2 Makati sex dens
MAKATI, Philippines — Police rescued 19 Filipinas during raids on two alleged prostitution dens in Barangay Palanan, Makati City on Thursday night.
The Makati police and the Philippine National Police’s Women and Children Protection Desk first raided the Casino Royal bar at the corner of Bautista and Casino streets just before 11 p.m. and rescued 12 women.
Around an hour later, they raided a two-story house at the corner of Emilia and Araro streets and rescued seven more women.
The second floor served as the “casa” or women’s quarters, where they slept in bunk beds. Trash was scattered all over the floor, police said.
Alleged pimps Serges Borlas, 50, said to be the bar’s maintainer; Junyen Quatchion Bariros, 42; and Winston Hugo Gella, 47, were arrested during the raids.
Police also arrested six other men, two of them Chinese.
An operative who posed as a client managed to buy the services of one of the women for P3,000 from Barrios, said city police chief Col. Rogelio Simon.
Clients would pick up the woman at the entrance of the bar or the house, he added.
Last week, police rescued 13 Filipina sex workers at a bar in the Makati Palace Hotel.
