North Cotabato village watchman slain in ambush

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — A village watchman was killed in an ambush in Matalam town in this province on Sunday.

Police said Kunti Kadatuan Solaiman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Solaiman’s companions Kutin Idtug, Moro National Liberation Front political affairs officer and the incumbent barangay chairman in Ilian, and Antonio Saban, were wounded.

The victims were in a government vehicle on their way to the town proper when they were attacked.

Probers believe Idtug was the target of the ambush.
