3 dead in gun attacks

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were shot dead by unidentified men in Cavite and Rizal in the past two days.

Col. Marlon Santos, Cavite police director, identified two of the fatalities as tricycle driver Lowell Dimapilis, 39, and his wife Madelyn.

Quoting a police report, Santos said a lone gunman barged into the house of the victims in Barangay Malagasang I-G at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday and shot the couple several times. The victims died at the scene.

Probers recovered eight bullet shells at the scene.

In Antipolo City, Jorge Torres was shot along Marcos Highway in Barangay Inarawan at around 2:10 a.m. yesterday.

Residents said they heard gunshots shortly after a vehicle arrived in the area.

Probers have yet to determine the identity of the gunmen and motive for the killings.
