Taxi driver who nearly run over Baguio cop charged

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Charges were filed yesterday against a drunk taxi driver who almost ran over a police officer while resisting arrest on Tuesday last week. 

Jone Buclay was charged with attempted homicide, violation of the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act, direct assault  and disobedience on a person in authority and oral defamation by the Baguio City police.

Buclay was caught on video trying to run over Pat. Julius Walang after the police officer asked him to pull over for parking near the city hall. He tested positive for alcohol.

Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 1 Judge Roberto Mabalot is under probe for allegedly interceding for Buclay’s release.
