Drug suspects slain in Iloilo, Nueva Ecija

ILOILO, Philippines — A drug suspect was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding men in Leganes, Iloilo on Thursday.

Virgilio Soledad, 61, a resident of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district in this city, had just presented documents at the provincial jail in Pototan town in connection with a plea bargaining agreement that he entered with a court when he was shot near the Leganes Elementary School, according to Capt. Roy Tayona, town police chief.

Soledad was declared dead on arrival at the Metro Iloilo Hospital.

The victim, who had been detained for two years for a drug-related case, was released last October.

Meanwhile, in Nueva Ecija, Romeo Taiplacido was killed in an alleged shootout with anti-narcotics agents in Barangay Kapalangan, Gapan City before dawn yesterday.
