5 die in Quezon road mishap

PAGBILAO, Quezon, Philippines — Five persons died while 10 others were injured in a collision involving a van and a bus in this town on Saturday afternoon.

Editha Antivo, Pacita Gabriente, Arturo Martillano, Ma. Analoyd Po and a minor, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene following the accident that occurred along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Silangang Malicboy, according to Col. Audie Madrideo, chief of the Quezon police.

The injured passengers were rushed to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City for treatment.

Reports said the van tried to overtake, causing it to collide with the bus driven by Reynaldo Sampillo.

Van driver Sander Soliveres was among those rushed to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
