Go celebrates Christmas with kids, elderly
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go visited the country’s first Malasakit Center at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City on Friday to celebrate Christmas with children and senior citizens confined at the hospital.
It was at the VSMMC where the Malasakit Center initiatives first took off in February 2018.
Hundreds of thousands of patients benefitted from the program, an initiative of President Duterte that was proposed by Go himself when he was still special assistant to the President.
Go was elated to see the impact of the Malasakit Center on the province in just over a year since it was launched. He brought presents for the kids and the elderly.
He assured them that the President would continue prioritizing their welfare as well as that of the vulnerable sectors of society.
The senator thanked the elderly for their continued trust and support to the Duterte administration.
He said one of the things he learned from the President is to always give back to those who supported them continuously, by serving them and uplifting their lives.
He gave an overview on how the Malasakit Center program evolved – from its conception until the legislative measure seeking to institutionalize it was signed into law.
“Yung pangako kong gagawing batas ang Malasakit Center, napirmahan na ni Pangulo. Kahit hindi na presidente si Pangulo sa susunod na administrasyon, patuloy pa rin ang Malasakit Center na alam kong makakatulong sa lahat ng Pilipino (My promise to make Malasakit Center a law has been signed by the President. Even if President Duterte is no longer president, the Malasakit Center will continue to help every one),” Go said.
