La Union access road completed

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Tourists are expected to flock to Santol in La Union now that the construction of an access road has been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said over the weekend.

Known for its scenic spots, Santol is home to natural destinations such as the Municipal Tree Park, Sasaba Rice Terraces, Bimmulalakaw and Pimmalangka Waterfalls, Native Tomb and Amburayan River.

“The town thrives on agriculture. More than the boost in tourism, we also want to assist the public in economic opportunities while guaranteeing their safety,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

A slope protection structure was built along the access road to ensure everyone’s safety, DPWH regional director Ronnel Tan said.
