Mindoro village chief wounded in ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A barangay captain was wounded in an ambush by unidentified motorcycle-riding men in Oriental Mindoro on Sunday.

Ichie Andal of Barangay Lumangbayan was buying something at a market when he was shot at around 5:26 p.m., according to Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa police spokesperson.

Andal was taken to the MMG Hospital in Calapan City for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing.
