Man held for beheading woman, eating her brain slain

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A man arrested in Barangay Talisayan, Misamis Oriental on Thursday for allegedly beheading a woman and eating her brain was shot dead during an alleged scuffle with police officers on Friday.

Police said Lloyd Bagtong, 21, a resident of Barangay Casibole, asked permission to urinate when the convoy of vehicles transporting him to this city for inquest proceedings pulled over after one had a flat tire.

Bagtong grabbed the gun of one of his escorts while he was being handcuffed, according to Maj. Dennis delos Santos.

The suspect suffered four gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Police said Bagtong admitted beheading a woman using a scythe because she talked to him in English.

The suspect said he cooked the brain of the victim and put it as topping for his rice.
