QCPD to set up discipline zones
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District would establish discipline zones in five key areas of the city to strictly implement ordinances and special laws, QCPD director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo said yesterday.
Mayor Joy Belmonte has thrown her full support for the project, which would undergo a “dry run” on Monday in Cubao, West and Katipunan Avenues, Timog and Tomas Morato streets and Novaliches, Montejo said.
The mayor promised to support the project by mobilizing the various departments of the city government in manning traffic and escorting the arrested violators, he added.
Montejo said they would also round up illegal vendors, illegally parked vehicles, rugby boys and Badjaos and Aetas begging for alms or Christmas gifts.
“All the ordinances, special laws and criminal laws would be strictly implemented in these five areas without fear or favor. Those arrested would be charged accordingly,” said Montejo, adding that minors rounded up would be turned over to the custody of the local social welfare office.
If the project proves to be a success, Montejo said Belmonte wants to implement it in other areas of the city.
