CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines – Two children died in a fire that destroyed their house in Barangay Barreto, Olongapo City at dawn yesterday.

A police report identified the fatalities as Yveth Aquino, 14, and his brother JM, 10.

Earl Pandio, a relative of the victims, said he tried to save the children, but he could not enter their house because the smoke was too thick.

Police said the victims could have died of suffocation.

Meanwhile, in Bacolod City, five-year-old Reniel Macapal died after he was trapped in the house owned by a certain Belinda Cuara, which caught fire on Wednesday.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
