Cop kills ma in Pampanga shooting
ANGELES CITY, Philippines — A police official shot dead his mother and wounded his nephew in a shooting incident following an altercation with his partner at their residence in Barangay Pulung Maragul in this city at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
A report from Police Station 3 identified the suspect as Maj. Dante Cabungcal and the victims as Purita and Miquiteo, 17.
The police report said Purita knocked on the room of the couple to pacify them, but Dante was annoyed by the knocking and shot the door five times, hitting his mother and nephew.
Dante reportedly locked himself and his partner Connie Brillo, 40, in the room following the shooting.
It was not clear if Dante held his partner hostage, but they went out of the room only upon the intercession of acting city police chief Col. Joyce Patrick Sangalang and ABS-CBN local editor John Mark Guda.
Two 9 mm pistols and magazines with ammunition were recovered from the room of the suspect. Dante was detained at the police lockup.
