Magnitude 4.2 quake shakes Cotabato
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolted Tulunan, Cotabato yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at around 6:31 a.m., was located 19 kilometers southeast of Tulunan.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 22 kms.
It was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Kidapawan City; Intensity 3 in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur, and Intensity 2 in Davao City.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the quake.
On Monday, a magnitude 5.9 quake jolted Bukidnon. The quake was felt at Intensity 6 or very strong in six towns in the province.
A magnitude 4.2 quake also struck Davao Oriental on Tuesday.
Phivolcs said the quakes, including the three powerful temblors that hit Mindanao last month, could be due to interrelated faults.
