MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized on Wednesday at least eight shipping containers of smuggled sugar at the Port of Manila.
In a statement yesterday, the BOC said the sugar, labeled Korach Conditioned Refined Sugar and with an estimated value of P4.4 million, was hidden in the containers declared to hold steel coils.
The BOC said the shipment arrived at the South Harbor from China on Aug. 30 and was consigned to RZTREC Trading, which is now under investigation by the bureau.
