Reward offered for capture of radioman’s killer
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines —The officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental police has offered a reward for any information leading to the arrest of the killer of radio broadcaster Dindo Generoso.
Col. Julian Entoman yesterday said he is willing to give his one-month salary for the capture of Cpl. Roger Rubio, the alleged gunman in the murder of Generoso in Dumaguete City recently.
A police colonel receives P80,583 per month.
Entoma admitted the killing tarnished the image of police in Negros Oriental, noting it involved a police officer.
Generoso, 67, a block timer of dyEM 96.7 Bai Radio, was declared dead on arrival at the Silliman University Medical Center after he was shot several times by one of two motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Piapi on Nov. 7.
Murder charges have been filed against Rubio, former police corporal Glenn Corsame, Tomasino Aledro and Teddy Salaw in connection with the Generoso murder.
Entoma said Rubio has been marked AWOL (absent without leave) for failing to report for duty after he was implicated in the murder.
Entoma said he ordered the release of Rubio’s salary stopped.
Rubio is a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company based at Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City, but detailed in Guihulngan City as part of the augmentation forces.
Entoma said they have yet to determine the motive for the killing. He urged Rubio to surrender. – With Alexis Romero
