MANILA, Philippines — A suspected robber was killed by police officers in an alleged shootout in Pasig City yesterday.

Lawmen spotted the suspect and his companion riding a motorcycle along Amang Rodriguez Avenue at around 2:20 a.m. after the two men allegedly robbed call center agent Ritchel Pontillano, 30, according to an initial report from the city police.

Instead of surrendering, the still unidentified suspects allegedly pulled out handguns and shot at the policemen, triggering a shootout.

One of the suspects was hit in the body while his companion fled on foot.Policemen brought the wounded robber to the Pasig Doctors Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
