Gunman mobbed to death

MABALACAT, Pampanga, Philippines — Angry residents beat to death one of two motorcycle-riding men who attacked a married couple in Barangay Lakandula in this city on Saturday.

Village chief Fernando de Guzman said the suspects shot and wounded Jessie Asuncion and his wife Margie, who were walking on Bernardo street.

The gunfire alerted the village residents, who cornered the fleeing suspects on Quirino street.

The residents beat up the suspects, whose identities  were not immediately available.

One of the suspects died before police arrived at the scene.

The Asuncions were taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
