8,245 set to take Bar exams

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA,Philippines — The annual Bar examinations for law graduates in the Philippines are set to start today at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, the Supreme Court (SC) said yesterday.

The SC said that a total of 8,245 examinees will take the Bar exams today and on other Sundays (Nov. 10, 17 and 24), which is 95 percent higher than the 8,701 who registered to take the Bar exams last year.

In a statement, the SC said it would provide at least 10 buses that will transport examinees and duty personnel to UST “in case of heavy rains” that will be stationed at several pick-up points.

Two buses each will be stationed at the Quezon Memorial Circle and at the SC compound along Taft Avenue and one bus will be at Park and Ride in Lawton at 4:30 a.m. The buses will leave by 5 a.m.

At least two buses will be deployed beneath the EDSA-Magallanes flyover in Pasay; two buses at Greenbelt and Glorietta in Makati; and one bus at the Marikina Sports Complex.

Examinees must present their notice of admission, gate pass or identification cards to the bus driver before they are allowed to board.

In case of flooding within the UST campus before the exam starts, the SC said that it will provide commuter vans to transport examinees and duty personnel from the campus gates to their respective examination buildings, according to the SC.

“Senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disability shall be prioritized in the use of the commuter vans,” the SC said.
