Gadon goes on voluntary suspension
MANILA, Philippines – Starting today, lawyer Larry Gadon said he would voluntarily begin his three-month suspension imposed by the Supreme Court (SC) after he was found liable of violating the Code of Ethics of the legal profession.
Gadon submitted to the SC yesterday a one-page letter, indicating his intent to go on voluntary suspension.
He said he would serve the suspension from Oct. 24 to Jan. 25 next year.
On June 26, the high tribunal suspended Gadon for “arrogant, malicious and insulting” language against a fellow lawyer and the latter’s client in 2009.
Gadon said the SC order was not implemented because he has not received a copy of the notice of suspension.
In a letter to Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Gadon said he “respects” the high court’s order and “hereby abides by the suspension despite non-receipt of an official notice.”
The lawyer said he had to secure a copy of the notice after learning it was sent to the wrong address.
Gadon apologized to the SC “for whatever demeanor that I have committed leading to the suspension.”
