LTFRB grants 855 special bus permits for ‘Undas’
MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) yesterday granted 855 special permits to commuter buses to augment public transportation during All Saints’ Day.
LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III said the special permits, which are valid from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 aim to ensure that sufficient trips are available to passengers during the long weekend.
The transport regulatory body said public utility buses would be inspected to ensure their road worthiness and the safety of commuters.
Delgra said commuter buses should not be more than 10 years and have no pending cases with the LTFRB before they are given special permits.
The LTFRB will conduct ocular inspections to ensure that bus drivers and operators comply with the protocols.
Delgra also reminded bus drivers to give discounts to senior citizens, students and persons with disability.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will activate today its “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2019.”
The DOTr ordered the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and Manila International Airport Authority to set up “Malasakit” help desks at 42 airports nationwide to ensure public safety.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said they are ready for the surge of passengers going to the provinces for Undas.
