Trillanes asks DOJ to dismiss kidnap raps
MANILA, Philippines – Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to dismiss the complaint for kidnapping with serious illegal detention filed against him by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Trillanes was accused of illegally detaining Davao-based businesswoman Guillermina Barrido, 43, at the Convent of the Cannussian Sisters in Makati in 2016.
Barrido alleged that Trillanes conspired with Fr. Albert Alejo and lawyer Jude Sabio in detaining her.
Barrido alleged that she met Trillanes in a Pasay City mall on Nov. 15, 2016.
Trillanes denied that the meeting took place, saying he was in the United States at the time as certified by the Bureau of Immigration.
