3 siblings die in Caloocan fire

MANILA, Philippines — Three minors died while their siblings are in critical condition after a fire razed their house in Caloocan before dawn yesterday.

The fire that hit a residential house in Tupda Village, Barangay 8 was raised to second alarm at around 3 a.m. and was put out past 4:30 a.m., according to Caloocan fire marshall Supt. Stephen Requina.

Jillian Nardeja, 8, was declared dead in the hospital due to severe burns, while the charred body of her sibling Marian, 7, was found in the site, Requina added.

Kian Nardeja, 10, succumbed to his wounds before noon yesterday.

Their five-year-old brother remains in critical condition due to severe burns.

A certain Fulgencio Rodriguez was also rushed to the hospital due to electrocution.

The children were left in the house, which did not have electricity. The family only used a candle at night, according to Requina.

The siblings’ father is presently detained on drug charges while their mother was outside when the fire happened.

The fire caused damaged worth P150,000.
