Gunrunning suspects killed in encounter with Caloocan cops
MANILA, Philippines — Two suspects were killed while four others were arrested in a sting for illegal firearms in Caloocan on Saturday.
Police said Nelson Lorenzo and Mike Sultan were killed in an encounter with operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Metro Manila District Field Unit in Phase 9 of Barangay Bagong Silang.
Lorenzo was the alleged leader of a criminal gang involved in gunrunning, contract killing, robbery and illegal drug activities, according to police.
Police added that an uncover lawman bought a caliber .38 revolver worth P3,500 from the suspects before engaging in a firefight.
Four other suspects – Julius Abeja, Imelda Navida, Randy Camsalim and Jesus Maclang – were arrested in the operation.
Police recovered two caliber .38 revolvers and P200,000 worth of shabu from the suspects.
