Former Ilocos Norte councilor nabbed for guns, ammo

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — A former town councilor in Ilocos Norte was arrested on Friday for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

William Peralta was collared after a 9mm pistol and various types of ammunition were recovered during a raid on his house in Barangay San Juan, Pasuquin.

The search warrant was issued by Laoag City Regional Trial Court Judge Nida Alejandro.

Police said Peralta is being investigated over allegations of involvement in a gun-for-hire group.
