Walang Pasok: Class suspensions for October 17 after magnitude 6.3 quake in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — A number of local government units in Mindanao have declared class suspensions for October 17, Thursday, following the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that hit North Cotabato on Wednesday evening.
The LGUs were prompted to call off some classes due to structural and electrical damage to buildings and houses.
The powerful quake was felt at Intensity VII or "destructive" in Kidapawan City.
For Davao City, Mayor Sara Duterte asked school owners, teachers and other personnel to inspect structures with the help of qualified engineers for safety purposes.
"If they find building defects that are dangerous and need repair, they should immediately condemn the area and not allow students to use the same," Duterte said.
Here's a running list of class suspensions for Thursday, October 17.
