4 die in North Luzon road mishaps

TUGUEGARAO – Four persons died while four others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur yesterday.

Joey Habilling was headed home in a tricycle when he lost control of the wheel and hit a road barrier in Barangay Bagahabag, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

Habilling died while being treated in a hospital, where his companions John Paul Bumanghat and Eric Tomas were also taken for treatment of injuries.

The victims reportedly came from a drinking session, police said.

In Isabela, Joseph Monteagudo died at the scene when his tricycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Pallatao, Naguilian.

Reports said the SUV crashed into a house after hitting the tricycle. 

SUV driver Restituto Baua, 49, and his companion Joy Agatep, 39, were rushed to a hospital in Cauayan City for treatment.

In Ilocos Norte, German Gunong, 25, was traveling in Barangay Bacsil when his motorcycle overshot and hit a road barrier.

Gunong died at the scene.

In Ilocos Sur, Kenneth Urata, 24, reportedly tried to overtake, causing his motorcycle to hit an SUV driven by Lexter Dave Galano, 22, in Barangay Bannuar.

Urata died while being treated at the hospital.

Responding police officers brought Galano to the police station for questioning.
