Army hospital gets free WiFI

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Patients, visitors, doctors and personnel of the Army General Hospital (AGH) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City can now enjoy free internet connectivity, an official said yesterday.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) installed a WiFi hotspot in the military hospital last week, according to Army spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan said the free WiFi aims to uplift the morale of soldiers confined in the hospital as well as their visitors.

Honasan, a retired Army officer, attended the launching of the free Wi-Fi program at the AGH on Oct. 8.

He said the provision of Wi-Fi in the military hospital was under Republic Act 10929 or the Free Internet Access in Public Places Act.

Army chief Maj. Gen. Jesus Sarsagat said the project was one way of thanking the soldiers for their sacrifices for the country.
