Laguna hospital head nurse shot dead

LAGUNA, Philippines — The chief nurse at a private hospital in this province was gunned down on Sunday.

Arlene Saludo, 44, of the Calamba Doctors Hospital died while being treated at the San Jose Trauma Hospital.

Probers said Saludo had just dropped off her son to a barbershop and was driving to work on her Toyota Fortuner when she was shot at close range in Barangay Mayapa at around 6:40 p.m.

The assailant fled on a motorcycle driven by his cohort who acted as a lookout.

Four bullet shells for an unknown caliber were recovered at the scene.
