Ex-NPA leader shot dead

 BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A former New People’s Army (NPA) leader was gunned down in Barangay Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Friday.

Jicky Casipe was driving his motorcycle when he was shot by unidentified men on two motorbikes, Maj. Jigger Gimeno, Talisay police officer-in-charge, said.

Casipe was a former commander of the defunct Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, the hit squad of the NPA. He was among 727 former rebels decommissioned in ceremonies led by President Duterte in Capiz two weeks ago.

Prior to the incident, Casipe’s brother said the victim received death threats.
