Boy, 9, drowns in creek
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — A nine-year-old boy drowned while playing in a creek in Barangay San Nicolas, Candon, Ilocos Sur on Sunday.
Police said villagers pulled out Emmar Malabas from a deep portion of the water at around 4:45 p.m.
The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the Candon City Hospital.
In Isabela, village watchman Thomas Baquiran, 62, drowned while trying to rescue his relatives who were carried away by the strong current while swimming in a river in Barangay Furao, Gamu.
Police said Baquiran’s body was recovered in Cagayan River.
