8 nabbed in shabu session

MANILA, Philippines — Eight persons were apprehended after they were caught in the act of sniffing shabu during a drug raid in Mandaluyong City before dawn yesterday.

They were Ferdinand Saclolo, 29; Marlon Cristobal, 31; Vicson Zapiter, 31; Bill Castillo, 35; Zernan de Ramos, 45; Gerard Dolor, 27; John Paul de la Cruz, 30, and Rheygene Bernaldo.

A report from the Eastern Police District said the suspects were arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Addition Hills at around 2:30 a.m.

Police officers and barangay watchmen said they raided a shanty after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen that a group of men was engaged in a shabu session.

Probers said they recovered packs of shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
