2 Makati centenarians get P100,000 each

MANILA, Philippines — Two centenarians were granted P100,000 cash gift by the Makati City government.

Mayor Abigail Binay gave cash gifts and a plaque of recognition to Nellie Delgado and Vicencia Yuchengco, the city government said in a statement yesterday.

Delgado, who turned 100 last month, founded the Mother Butler Foundation in 1965. The foundation provides scholarships for priests and seminarians.

Yuchengco had her 100th birthday in January but died a month later.

City Ordinance 2012-099 entitles Makati’s senior citizens who are Blu Card holders to a one-time P100,000 cash gift upon their 100th birthday.

As of September, 59 centenarians received cash gifts since the ordinance was passed in 2012.
