Bukidnon poll officer dead in road mishap
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The provincial election officer of Bukidnon died while his companion was injured in a road accident in Sitio Patag, Barangay Bagontaas in Valencia City yesterday.
Stalin Baguio was driving his Toyota Fortuner when a rock from a cargo truck in the opposite direction fell, hit and shattered his windshield and landed on his face. The vehicle fell into a drainage canal when Baguio lost control of the wheel.
“The truck did not bother to cover its cargo to prevent the rocks from falling. This is in violation of provincial and city ordinances,” Lt. Col. Surki Sereñas, Valencia police chief, said.
Baguio’s companion was identified as Lee Marvin Rapirap, a technician at the Commission on Elections office in Valencia.
Sereñas said they obtained footage of surveillance cameras at the scene. “We are looking for the truck driver so he can face the charges to be filed against him,” he said.
