Warmer Christmas this year – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — A warmer Christmas season will be experienced this year even though El Niño has ended, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA weather specialist Rusy Abastillas said the temperature in Central Luzon and Metro Manila would be one to two degrees higher than the average level.
In Metro Manila, the highest temperature in December will range from 32.1 degrees Celsius to 34.5 degrees Celsius.
In the lowlands in Luzon, the projected maximum temperature in December will range from 28.4 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius.
El Niño, which brought below normal rainfall in the country since the last quarter of 2018, ended in July.
Abastillas said most of the models used by international climate prediction centers indicated that neither El Niño nor El Niña would persist until July next year.
El Niño is associated with dry condition. La Niña is associated with excessive rainfall.
