6 dead in Quezon, Negros road mishaps
MANILA, Philippines — Six persons have died in road accidents in Quezon and Negros Occidental.
Three persons were pronounced dead on arrival at the Magsaysay Memorial Hospital when their jeepney collided with a truck along the Lopez diversion road in Barangay Danlagan in Lopez, Quezon on Monday.
Case officer Cpl. Rafael Pintano identified the fatalities as Arden Erivera, the jeepney driver; and passengers Joy Quintao, 36, and Cascmer Balindog, 5. Another passenger, Francisco Balinado, 36, was injured.
Initial investigation showed the truck rolled over and crashed into the jeepney when the driver, Randy Resos, 26, lost control of the wheel. The fatalities were pinned by the jeepney.
Resos was arrested.
Meanwhile, pedicab drivers Archie Castillo, 31, and Jason Mendoza, 24, and one of their passengers Celsa Marabulas, 57, died when their vehicles crashed into a black Hyundai Accent along the highway in Sitio Nacab, Barangay Bubog, Talisay City at around 4 a.m. yesterday.
Two other pedicab passengers – Rochelle Marabulas, 26, and Rolen Diasanta, 36 – were injured.
The driver of the Hyundai Accent, Feb Dharel Medina, 28, was arrested in a follow-up operation. – Ed Amoroso, Gilbert Bayoran
