North Cotabato village chief slain in gun attack

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — A barangay captain in Kabacan town in this province and his companion were killed in a gun attack on Sunday.

Barombong Bacana, chairman of Barangay Kayaga, and Tatuan Kalantungan died at the scene.

Bacana and Kalantungan were in the barangay hall when motorcycle-riding men arrived and shot them several times. 

Two other persons who have yet to be identified were wounded.

The police and military are conducting a joint probe to identify the perpetrators.
