Magnitude 5 quake jolts Bicol
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake rocked parts of Bicol yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but warned the public of aftershocks.
Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at about 2:04 a.m., with its epicenter traced 37 kilometers northeast of Panganiban, Catanduanes.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Panganiban, Bagamanoc, Caramoan and Viga, all in Catanduanes; Intensity 3 in Bato, also in Catanduanes, and Intensity 2 in Legazpi City, Albay and Sagñay, Camarines Sur.
Another quake with a magnitude of 4.4 struck some 43 kms southeast of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur at about 1:57 p.m., also yesterday. – Cet Dematera
