Lawyer slain in Muntinlupa

MANILA, Philippines — A lawyer was gunned down by still unidentified assailants in front of his house in Muntinlupa City before dawn yesterday.

Jesus Acpal, 68, a retired police officer, and his son had just arrived at their home in Katarungan Village in Barangay Poblacion in his Toyota Fortuner when he was attacked at around 1:05 a.m.

Police said when Acpal got out of the vehicle to open the gate, two assailants shot him several times. He died at the scene.

Investigators recovered 11 .45 caliber bullet casings, a fired bullet and a bullet fragment from the scene.

Maj. Allan Cabral, chief investigator of the city police, told The STAR they have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
