MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City’s sixth most wanted drug suspect was shot dead in an alleged encounter with police on Thursday.

Riyad Sunga, 28, reportedly fled on foot when police officers went to his house in Barangay Sauyo to implement a search warrant for illegal drugs at around 5:15 p.m.

He was killed when he allegedly shot it out with police officers pursuing him.

Five sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, seven sachets of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .38 caliber snubnosed revolver were recovered from the suspect, police said.

Meanwhile, 92 drug suspects were among 509 persons arrested in Pasay City during a “one-time, big-time” 24-hour simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operation on Thursday.

A total of 164 sachets of shabu and 11 sachets of marijuana were seized from the suspects.

Police said 403 persons were held for violating city ordinances while several were arrested for carrying guns, grenades, bullets and knives. – Ralph Edwin Villanueva
