LRT train window breaks; 2 injured

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two passengers of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) were injured when the train’s window broke at the United Nations Avenue station yesterday.

Joyce Ann Chan and Arnel Beller were hurt by shards of broken glass.

They were treated by the LRT safety and medical team.

According to the LRT management, George Liberato, who boarded the train at the Carriedo station, broke the window after he forcibly opened it due to poor air-conditioning.

LRT spokesperson Sweeden Ramirez denied that the air-conditioner of the train was not working.

Ramirez appealed to passengers to follow the regulations when riding the LRT. — Marc Jayson Cayabyab
