MANILA, Philippines — PAGASA said several parts of the country would still experience light to heavy rains on Sunday due to the habagat or southwest monsoon.

PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the habagat would affect southern Luzon and the rest of Visayas. Meanwhile, Quitlong said Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol and the rest of Western Visayas would have cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The provinces of Zambales and Bataan would also experience scattered rainshowers due to localized storms.

PAGASA advised residents of these areas to prepare for possible floods and rain-induced landslides.

The state weather agency also advised fisherfolk to avoid the western seaboard of southern Luzon, seaboards of Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao due to potentially rough sea conditions.

“Sea travel is risky, especially for small seacrafts,” it warned.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Marilyn weakened into a low pressure area and left the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday evening.

As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located 1,665 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, already outside PAR. It left PAR at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Quitlong said the shallow LPA the agency is monitoring in the West Philippine Sea also exited PAR on Sunday and is now located west of Iba, Zambales.
