MANILA, Philippines — A policeman and six others were arrested during a drug bust in Taguig City on Friday.

Chief M/Sgt. Rashid Sanguan of the Police Security and Protection Group was arrested in his house during the sting, which had Normina Sanguan as the target.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Guillermo Eleazar said in a press briefing that the target is the policeman’s “second wife.”

Police had been monitoring Sanguan’s house for some time following reports that it was used as a drug den, Eleazar said.

He added that when they rounded up suspects during the sting, they were surprised to see one of the suspects is a policeman.

Four grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a street value of P27,200; 17.5 grams of marijuana valued at P2,100; a cell phone and P500 marked money were recovered from the suspects.

Alfonso Obejas, Ernie Legaspi, Joseph Denjuan, Ronnie Sueno and Nagrodin Ayob were also arrested during the sting.

In Manila, a 40-year-old woman was arrested in Tondo yesterday for allegedly hiding a sachet of shabu in her three-month-old infant’s sock.

Annalisa Aligado was allegedly caught selling drugs along Capulong street by barangay officials conducting clearing operations, according to barangay kagawad Al Valenzona.

Another sachet of shabu was seen inside the baby’s stroller, he said.

“She was always carrying her baby in a stroller so she wouldn’t be suspected,” Valenzona said.

The baby was turned over to a social worker. The suspect faces charges for illegal drugs and child abuse.– Marc Jayson Cayabyab
