Man shot dead in Sulu; bomb found near body

John Unson - The Philippine Star

SULTAN KUDARAT, Philippines — Probers still have no leads on the killing of a man in Isulan, Sulu on Tuesday night.

Police said an improvised explosive device was recovered near the body of the still unidentified victim.

Lt. Col. Modesto Carrera, Isulan police chief, said the man was sitting on his motorcycle in Barangay Kenram when he was shot several times.

The incident came on the heels of a bomb explosion at the Isulan public market on Saturday that left eight people wounded.

Police and military intelligence officials said the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters could be behind the bombing.
