MANILA, Philippines — At least 10 people were injured when a taxi hit two motorcycles and commuters waiting for a ride at the corner of Pasig Boulevard and Banaag streets in Pasig City on Monday night.

Among those hurt were Cynthia Lati, 47; Arriane Lipata, 25; Celestino Espejon, 50; Alex Amparo; Alyssa Jane Jardin; John Cazher Condez, 21; Bianca Montepero, 20; Archie Roque, 33; Jeffrey Nares, 29, and taxi driver Roberto Marquez, 58.

Col. Moises Villaceran, Pasig police chief, said Marquez was driving a Toyota Vios taxi when its brakes failed at around 7:30 p.m.

The taxi hit two motorcycles, driven by Roque and Nares, “before plunging into a pile of bystanders who were waiting for a ride home,” Villaceran said.
