2 die in Cavite vehicular mishap

MANILA, Philippines — Two construction workers died while another was injured after they were hit by a car driven by a Nigerian missionary in General Trias, Cavite before dawn on Saturday.

Roderick dela Rosa, 47, died at the scene due to head and body injuries.

Nico Pajaron, 18, died while being treated at the General Trias City Doctors Medical Center, where another victim, identified only as Raz, was also taken for treatment of injuries.

Reports said the victims were putting a warning sign at a manhole in Barangay Camachile II when they were run over by the Nissan Sentra driven by Oluwafemi Ogunrinde, 28.

Responding police officers arrested Ogunrinde, who reportedly tried to escape from the scene.

Police are preparing to file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and physical injuries against the suspect.

Meanwhile, in Isabela, three persons were seriously injured following a collision of two motorcycles in Naguilian town.

The motorcycles, driven by Isagani Lagazo, 50, and Jack Pagaling, 39, were traveling in Barangay Pallatao when they figured in the accident at around 9:30 p.m.

The drivers, including Lagazo’s brother Isaiah, 40, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. – With Raymund Catindig
